The practice of paying attention can show up in the way we regard our bodies, but it is so much more than that. One of the reasons I felt so drawn to yoga was that yoga holds a lot of space for people with varying spiritualities, people who believe a lot of different things, and all are united by the practice.

Through the past 7 years as I have left the church I once belonged to, I have begun to develop my own, independent spirituality, a spirituality no longer bound by any one thing. Instead, it gives me freedom. I think having a spiritual practice is so important, and it’s even more important for us to develop it on our own. Here is a conversation on what mine looks like, and how it came to be.
